About Aktiv Physio
Aktiv Physio was founded to bring better access to physiotherapy in rural communities
My mission is to help the residents of communities near and far to live their healthiest and most active lives. Through comprehensive and individualized physiotherapy treatment, I want people to understand their bodies and feel both empowered and inspired to stay moving. With strong roots in community service and involvement, I look to uplevel health care in our area.
Why “Aktiv”?
Ak-tiv (adj) is German for Active which has several definitions including:
“being in a state of existence, progress or motion”
“involving physical effort and action”
“having the power of quick motion”
“engaging in purposeful activity”
This accurately describes our lifestyle – being active is different for everyone! And it has value to us! We all have different experiences with being active whether it's playing hockey, waterskiing, walking our dog, snowshoeing or feeding cows. But what’s most important is that we love to do it and we plan to do it throughout our entire lives!
I believe this definition embodies my treatment style as a physiotherapist. Understanding your previous experiences with movement and activity helps me to understand your current state and where you want to go!
One way I do this is by offering individualized services to understand your story and your goals and to provide thorough assessments and follow-up treatments.
Meet Beth
My passion for physical activity, movement and healthy living is what led me to pursue a career as a physiotherapist. But my love of living on the farm and being close to family is what led me to start Aktiv Physio in my community.
I grew up on a family farm near Waseca where I worked with cattle, along with helping with seeding and harvest: everything from running a combine to picking rocks to branding cattle. I left the farm to pursue my education starting with a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Regina and then on to my Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of Saskatchewan. Since then I have continued to pursue education in hands on therapy, dry needling/IMS, running mechanics and conditioning. I have recently completed my Connect Therapy Series™ from Dr. LJ Lee International in North Vancouver, B.C.
Outside of work, I developed a love for endurance running, personally completing a marathon and several half marathons. Through my personal experiences and educational background, I understand the mechanics and the demands that sport can have and how it can lead to injury. I have been involved with track and field for nearly two decades as an athlete and a coach and I now help athletes improve performance and prevent injury. I enjoy working with people at all levels of activity, movement and sport to improve their health and meet their goals.
