Physiotherapy
Initial Assessment
If this is your first visit with me, you can expect that the initial physiotherapy appointment will take about 60 minutes. One of my goals is to hear your story and get a detailed history of your concerns. I will take the time to understand your goals, to do a physical assessment and to get started with initial treatment. You’ll get a personalized home exercise plan to help your physiotherapy treatment between visits. This home exercise plan is specific for you and will include pictures/videos and notes.
Follow-up Treatment
After our initial assessment, I will start your follow-up treatment appointments which will be about 30 minutes. Physiotherapy treatment sessions can include a combination of hands-on treatment, soft tissue release, education and a home exercise program adjustment to help you continue towards your goals.
Dry needling
“The treatment goal is to produce a neurophysiological effect that helps reduce pain and inflammation, improve range of motion and tolerance to movement, normalize the nervous system and optimize the body’s performance.”
Dry needling is a fantastic tool that I integrate in to physiotherapy treatment appointments. I will use it to increase flexibility, decrease pain and train muscles to work more efficiently.
Running Assessment
Initial Assessment and Follow-up Treatment
The running services include an initial assessment and follow-up treatments that help reduce your risk of injury while also improving your running performance. With these services I will identify your problem areas, provide you with a home exercise program and help you achieve your running goals injury-free!
We will start with a 60 minute running assessment appointment. We will review your running history and conduct a detailed functional and biomechanical movement assessment to help identify mobility deficits, muscle imbalances or motor control issues. I will complete part of the assessment on the treadmill or outside, to look at foot strike and cadence. I will send you a home exercise program that will include running recommendations.
During your follow-up treatment, I will review your home exercise program and provide progressions including strength and mobility exercises. I will reassess your running gait and adjust your running recommendations.
